International Test Arena
CAA Norway and Avinor have established the International Test Arena to prepare the aviation ecosystem for zero- and low-emission aviation and lay the groundwork for future scaling.
The purpose of the International Test Arena is to generate and share knowledge and experience across the aviation ecosystem, while gaining operational experience through testing in real-world operational environments. The initiative aims to pave the way for the introduction of zero-emission aircraft as soon as the technology becomes available.
The International Test Arena covers technologies based on electricity, hydrogen and hybrid solutions, including combinations of electric propulsion and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
The International Test Arena provides a single point of contact through Avinor and CAA Norway, as well as a coordinated process from initial concept to test and demonstration flights. This includes facilitating access to infrastructure, airspace, energy and regulatory support for national and international stakeholders seeking to test and demonstrate zero- and low-emission aircraft in Norway.
