FAA and Norwegian CAA Sign New Airworthiness Agreement

25 September: This marked a significant milestone in the cooperation between the Civil Aviation Authority of Norway and the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States.
– The signing of this Implementing Procedures for Airworthiness (IPA) reflects our shared commitment to the highest standards of aviation safety, fostering innovation and regulatory efficiency. It establishes a framework for mutual recognition, enabling closer collaboration and reducing barriers for industry stakeholders. This agreement is a testament to our joint resolve to uphold this principle, said Lars Kobberstad.
Bilateral Aviation Safety Agreement
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Civil Aviation Authority of Norway (CAA Norway) signed a new Implementation Procedures for Airworthiness (IPA) agreement. The IPA builds on the Bilateral Aviation Safety Agreement (BASA) between the United States and Norway and is closely linked to the Technical Implementation Procedures (TIP) established between the FAA and EASA.
This milestone strengthens international aviation safety cooperation and simplifies regulatory processes for manufacturers and operators in both countries.
Through this agreement, the TIP between FAA and EASA is now formally applicable to Norway, meaning that Norwegian aviation stakeholders benefit directly from the streamlined procedures for mutual recognition of airworthiness and environmental certifications.
FAA Deputy Administrator Christopher J. Rocheleau and CAA Norway Director General Lars Kobberstad signed the IPA.
